Palm vs Fate

We did simulated teaching on our last tutorial class, just the set-induction and the pre-reading, and our teaching os focus on the theme os the drama entitled Oedipus Rex. It was really interesting, my theme selection is fate, and i used a palm picture as my set induction. And i conbined the idea of fate and fortune telling. I hope my friends like my teaching. Linda's teaching is the one that I most interested with. She used a video that a father who do not know what his baby want although the baby already hinted him what he wants. He pointed on the milk bottle, the milk powder, the cow and even his mather's bra (indicate breast milk), but his father still do not know what he wants. This shows the ignorance theme. Oedipus ignored what the people said around him. They advised him, but he did not listen for his arogance. And the result is his failure in his life. I think this way of teaching is surely useful for us in our future teaching. Set- induction can attracted our students' attention in the class. So, i think this way of teaching is really useful.

hi Eunice!
i agree with you that set-induction could attract students' attention. But it must be interesting enough to them. i want to add comment on simulated teaching we did in previous class. i found some of our classmate used inappropriate material as their pre-presentation. Some were too long and some were too violence. i think they should consider about our future students' level. They are teenagers and such presentation (especially the violence clip video) was not suitable at all. They may get influence to try what they've watch and it is something that we have to be careful of. however, i also think that set-induction plays an important role to get students' focus until the end of lesson.

set induction do actually attract students attention if we know how to do it appropriately. even though it just take for about 4 to 5 minutes, we have to plan it very well because this is the first thing that the students will listen to. if it cannot attract their attention, they will not listen to the rest of the lesson. for me, you choose the wright material and they way you present it is also interesting.keep up the good work girl....
